Towards a greater change

WE ARE COMMITTED TO BUILDING A MORE FAIR AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD

WE FIGHT FOR A GREATER GOAL

AJTKD provides free Taekwondo classes and engaging activities to children, youth and communities from underprivileged areas – where social issues, such as poverty and drug use, are prominent – to empower them to thrive in life. Our five key areas of action – social inclusion, peacebuilding, health and well-being, gender equality, and environmental education – are aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Social Inclusion

By bringing sports to underprivileged communities, we promote social inclusion of children and young people in situations of social vulnerability. Through our initiatives, we help to transform the lives of many individuals, not only by enabling them to access sports, but also encouraging them to overcome barriers and to respect differences.

Peacebuilding

Recognized by the UN, since 2003, as a vector of development and an instrument for peace, sport is the activity that we have been promoting since our foundation. Through it, we promote a culture of tolerance and peace, the prevention of violence, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Through the promotion of sports practice, we positively influence the behavior and attitudes of children and young people, inspiring them to keep an active lifestyle, stimulating the construction of resilient attitudes, and encouraging the adoption of healthy habits.

By fostering physical activity as a way of stimulating and caring for the body and mind, we also focus our work on preventing the use of alcohol and other drugs.

Gender Equality

We empower girls and women from underprivileged communities by providing them with knowledge and skills to develop self-confidence, and to progress in society. Our classes are open to girls and women, and we provide a safe and inclusive space, in which we promote gender equality.

Environmental Education

Aware that eco-friendly behaviors must be assimilated from an early age, we organise educational events to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote adoption of attitudes and behaviours, which contribute to environmental preservation and a more sustainable world.

THE 2030 AGENDA

We are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals – a collection of 17 global goals established by the United Nations as part of Resolution 70/1, known as the 2030 Agenda.
